Our Epic Day in the Mountains

Whistler

I have no idea why we chose to visit Whistler, never met anyone that has been there and never really read anything about it. But for some reason it became part of our plan and we stayed for a week. We both wish it could have been much longer.

What’s so good about Whistler?

Well we can’t speak for anyone else but it may well be the best place that we have ever been to. We have always loved being in the mountains but perhaps this was just a week when all of the planets aligned and absolutely everything fell into place perfectly. The weather was incredible, the accommodation exactly what we needed, and it really did feel like we were on a fabulous holiday. Perhaps what made it even more special was that we had no preconceptions whatsoever and everything was a marvellous surprise.

Can I just whisper a quick apology?

I know we’ve already had a couple of posts about our visit to this little town in British Columbia and we’ve already droned on a lot about how great it was but I really can’t help myself. So sorry if it’s too much and sorry for all the mountain photos but this is something we just had to share. As Jo explained previously we had gone a little chairlift-crazy and journeyed up and down the mountains every single day (37 rides on the chairlifts and cable cars in total!) and we decided that our last day would be a full day hiking on Whistler Mountain whatever the weather. So although there is so much we haven’t told you about our week away this is just the story of our last day and the best way to do that is through the pictures.

The High Note Trail

The most spectacular and picturesque walk in the whole valley is the High Note Trail which runs from the peak of Whistler Mountain down to the Roundhouse Lodge for around 9 kilometres. The Peak Express chairlift up to the summit was our favourite ride so once again we went up, came down, and went up again! Amazing.

Best Day Out Ever?

Quite a statement isn’t it and I’m not sure it’s a definitive one but it was certainly one of the best days out we have ever ever had and definitely the greatest walk we’ve ever done. I could ramble on for page after page about each climb and every stunning view but you’ll just have to look at the photos to get a feel for what it was like. Fantastic.

  1. I totally agree with you about the High Note trail. Whistler is fantastic, but that trail is simply perfect, especially if you get decent weather like you did!!
