It seems like only yesterday that we arrived here in the Hertfordshire town of Welwyn Garden City not sure what we would find and with no prior knowledge of what the town or area would be like. We only booked the little Airbnb apartment as it was reasonably priced and we wanted a months stay.
But to our complete surprise, the town is great and the countryside all around is absolutely stunning. We have been blown away by the number of footpaths and wonderful walks that we have been able to do and they are all no more than 10 minutes walk from out apartment.
So in the end we stayed for over 11 weeks and we’ve been so comfortable. It’s almost been like having our own home as we have been so settled.
But the time has come to leave and so we have been packing those rucksacks again and getting ready to leave. It’s more difficult packing after such a long time as you tend to spread out a lot more and there seems to be a lot more stuff. We’ll be ok though, we’re well used to packing by now.
It’s time to head off to our first housesit for over six months and it’s down in our our home county of Kent. We are off to Edenbridge for a week to look after a couple of dogs and a great big house so we will be sure to let you know how that goes. I hear they have a hot-tub and a table tennis table so you never know …..
Just a mixed-bag selection of photos now to remind us of what life has been like in WGC.

It was a brilliant place to stay for so long and the town and countryside were a major surprise. Was starting to feel like home after 11 weeks. Housesit is looking good so far.

I don’t know WGC beyond a couple of visits, but the countryside surrounding is lovely. Edenbridge is nice too – absolutely loads to see and do round there and the Weald. Enjoy!

WGC was such a surprise, a beautiful part of the country and so many great walks. Edenbridge seems nice but only here a week so not sure how much we will get to see.

Wow, eleven weeks. Be careful, you’ll start to take root! Loved those cricketer figurines too.

It did start to feel like home after that long Chris and we got so comfortable there. On the move again now though. Cricketers were great werent they?

Love the cricketers! Looking forward to hearing about your next posting

They were so cool, much better than the normal gnomes you see everywhere. May have to get some if we ever settle properly.

Has it really been 11 weeks already? That went fast. Good luck with the next venture – how is the house hunting going?

It did seem to go fast didn’t it although at times it felt like we were there forever. Househunting is only online currently so not really going much yet. Not easy.

Just need to be patient and something will turn up eventually.

Some good walks from Edenbridge, you’ll be pleased to hear, although not a lot of woodland.

Been exploring already Mick and lots of footpaths and bridleways but you’re right about woodland.

Finding a new place that you enjoy is always a good thing. Even better when it was a bit of a wild card in the first place. Love the pink microwave and kettle in the kitchen. Very cheerful!

It was such a cool comfy little apartment, not big but just what we needed.

Those little cricketer figures are really cute! Much less unsettling than the weird children figures I saw in Nottingham a while back. Hope your travels to the next place go well!
