Happy Lockdown Birthday Jo

Joanna

As Jo mentioned exactly a year ago ‘birthdays come and go, and we don’t usually do much apart from just enjoy wherever we are‘. Even with the unbelievably tragic crisis currently affecting the whole world that expression still applies. We have never gone over the top with birthday celebrations but this year is obviously a lot more restrictive than previous ones.

However, that doesn’t mean that I can’t wish my JWalking partner the most wonderful birthday ever and try to let her know just how special she is to me and everyone else. You wouldn’t want me to get all romantic and mushy now would you so I’ll save that for later. What I would like to say though is that Jo is the most caring, most considerate, and kindest person that I have ever met and my life would be only a fraction of what it is if she wasn’t by my side.

So even though I couldn’t get a birthday card or any expensive gifts or take her out for a slap-up meal or just ply her with gin, it doesn’t mean I won’t try to spoil her in my own hopeless way. She’s worth it.

“Sometime around her first ever birthday, one or two years ago”

During our past five years of JWalking we have been lucky enough to have been able to celebrate Jo’s birthday in some amazing places.

We can add another one in Devon to that list now, doesn’t seem too shabby does it? May of course put me under a little pressure for next year (if this lockdown is over of course). I’ll start having a think about that now ……..

So happy birthday Joanna. Have a wonderful day. I just hope you know how special you are x

    • Thank you Jo. The lockdown birthday has been more emotional than I thought it would be but just feel so loved and overwhelmed by the comments and greetings when there are so many other issues going on in peoples lives.

    • Thank you….did a JWalk to get a view of the coast. The weather was perfect. Some social distance greetings, cake deliveries, a handmade keyring and postal delivery of flowers, all of which has blown me anyway but this surprise post brought me to tears.

    • There are a lot of birthdays that have been very different to usual but think of all those belated celebrations! Happy birthday to you too and to our lovely Queen!!

    • Thanks Anabel. Weirdly meaning in one place meant I had more greetings and little treats since JWalking began! Probably the reverse to most people.

  1. Well I think this birthday will be just as memorable for different reasons! I have been to Oceanside in California, I really like the west coast and would gladly do it all again. About forty years ago went to Lundy and can not remember much about it. I wonder where you will be next year? Happy birthday !
